Cafe Opens On Boathouse Row

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Boathouse Row has historic architecture and scenic beauty but it's been missing a major necessity: Food.

A new cafe has fixed that problem.

"I'd like to welcome you to our new Cosmic Cafe."

Deputy Mayor Mike DiBerardinis helped cut the ribbon on the new lunch-breakfast-snack place in Lloyd Hall, at the Eastern end of Boathouse Row. It's just what the thousands of runners, bikers, rollerbladers and rowers who use the area have needed.

According to the new proprietor, Peg Botto, vice-versa.

"Lloyd Hall was a dream come true to us. We've been looking to go on the boathouse row for years. My husband and I used to drive around looking for a spot where healthy people are because that's the kind of food we make."

Botto, who had a stand in Chestnut Hill's farmers market till recently, says she uses organic, locally grown food. Her Cosmic cafe is open 7 days a week from 8 to 8.
