About This Event

YOU CAN STILL SIGN UP either SATURDAY or SUNDAY if you like on site at Packet Pick up.
Utilizing the picturesque canal of Downtown Indianapolis and the streets traversing the city's cultural and historic landmarks, Tri Indy will once again offer participants a challenging and memorable course. Tri Indy will consist of an Olympic Distance (1500 meter swim, 40K bike and 10K run) a Sprint Distance (500 meter swim, 20K bike, 5K run) and a Short distance Duathlon (2 mile run, 20K bike and 5K run) There is also a relay division for the Olympic distance (2 or 3 person).

The Swim

The canal is about 40 feet wide. Both the Olympic Distance event and the Sprint event will be a point to point swim. Faster swimmer will go first with slower swimmer going in the final waves. Be sure to input your swimming ability when you register. The depth of the canal is 4 feet deep. Swimmers will enter the water in 2 second intervals.

The Bike

Come ride thru a scenic and fairly flat 12.5 mile loop (Olympic Distance will do 2 loops) This course will loop you through some downtown streets, along White River, along Riverside Parkway and parts of IUPUI. Expect great volunteer and police protection along the way.

The Run

The run course will have you running along side the White River from Celebration Plaza up to 10th Street and then back along the other side of the river - the course is flat and fast. Distance of the course is 3.1 miles (Olympic Distance does 2 loops). Expect a water/Gatorade station every mile along the way.

The Transition

Celebration Plaza in the heart of White River State Park will offer a beautiful setting for the transition area. This large, grassy area is only steps from the swim exit and will give you a great location to start/finish each leg of the triathlon. This is also a great place for spectators to watch the event!
