A Quick Update With A Few Tips

I’ve just sent the final edited manuscript in to my publisher for the updated version of my social media book that is being updated for the third time. It’s so fresh and new I don’t even know what it’s definitely called yet but I know there’s plenty of new information and case studies in there for you to learn from. I’ll keep you posted when it’s out but it's due 1st August. In the meantime, I thought I’d share a few snippets I’ve learned about digital marketing from others that have contributed to the book with their success stories because we should never stop learning! In no particular order, here are a few gems:

·     Some folks believe Instagram is a far more positive place to hang out and develop a community than say Facebook. I particularly thought this an interesting viewpoint and another reason to spend more time there.

·     On Instagram use #hashtags with large amounts of posts attached, over 100,000, for massive eyeball exposure rather than the smaller ones.

·     About 2.5 billion people have a smartphone so your message really does need to work on a small screen. Now read that again!

·     Building an email list from Facebook’s lead generation adverts is very easy if you have something to give away in exchange. I've just done it for my thriller book and gained 1000 subscribers over the month without any real effort and not much cost.

·     Your email campaigns need to be sent from a name rather than info@ or shop@ for a better open rate.

·     A huge 53% of email readers opened their email on a portable device in 2016. Can they read what you sent? Even big brands miss the trick here!

·     Calls to Action must be tap-able on a touchscreen with image sizes a minimum of 44 x 44 pixels.

·     Use tap terminology for mobile marketing and click for desktop - not many phones come with a mouse.

Just a few things to think about, there are many more in the book when it does come out. I also hope to record a podcast for each chapter so you can listen as well as read. Again, I'll keep you posted.

Talking of books, I’ve mentioned I've started writing thrillers and my first one and the first in a long series - ‘The Controller’ is out now. If you’d like a FREE download of it for your eReader, here is the link to get it. All eReaders are supported, I hope you like it and I welcome your feedback.

Have a great week!

It sounds like mobile is the new black. Common knowledge for sometime. Spread the word.

Great list. Thanks for sharing.

Instagram does seem like a more happy and interested community overall compared to Facebook. Liked your tips on being mobile-optimized a lot, it is only gonna become even more important going forward! Also watch out that your landing pages on your website look decent on mobile: people will not take action if they can not find the "Submit"-button. Thanks for some great tips and reminders and good luck with your book.
