Police seek information regarding one of Queensland’s largest unsolved armed robberies

Senior police from State Crime Operations Command have established new leads into one of Queensland’s largest unsolved armed robberies.

In June 2007, masked and armed offenders broke into the Southport Sharks AFL Club, accessed the club’s safe and stole a considerable sum of money. A security guard was confronted by armed offenders during the robbery.

Initial investigations were unable to identify any suspects.

The new investigation, code-named Operation Juliet-Resolve, was initially conducted by Task Force Resolve as part of their investigations into violent armed robberies committed at south-east Queensland licensed venues.

Detective Superintendent John Sheppard of the Organised Crime Group said as a result of these of investigations, new witnesses and evidence has been uncovered.

“We are using a wide range of resources to investigate these armed robberies. Several new witnesses have come forward and have been keen to assist police with their enquiries. While we are confident of an arrest in the near future, we still wish to speak with anyone who has information regarding the offence. This offence was particularly heinous considering the violent nature of this offence,” Detective Superintendent Sheppard said.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day.

Crime Stoppers is a registered charity and community volunteer organisation working in partnership with the Queensland Police Service.
