During the months of February and March, parents, siblings, Cub Scouts and Packs should be gearing up for the Council Derby. 

Don't have a car or need a little help building one? We've got you covered. You can purchase a complete car kit at the Gottschalk Scout Shop or the Sioux City Scout Office for only $3.99 + tax! You can also purchase weights, stickers, and other accessories for your car. Both locations have a track set up for you to test out your completed car and a scale to make sure it is at it's derby-sanctioned weight.

No tools to perfect your car? No problem! Midwest Woodworkers are your personal pit crew! Attend one of their workshops to c ut your pinewood block into the design of your choice. Plus, you'll learn how to sand, paint, work with weights, wheels and axles when building your Pinewood Derby Car with your son.

Between February and April, parents, siblings, Cub Scouts and Packs should be gearing up for the Council Derby. Cub Scouts will race their cars at their Pack derby, usually held during a normally scheduled meeting. Next, you'll race over to your District Derby! Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, siblings and adults can all participate! The Gottschalk Scout Shop Trading Post will also be available at each district derby, as well as the Council derby. The big day has arrived! You've raced against your unit. You've raced against your district. Now it's time to race against the council! There are multiple divisional races available to everyone, not just district winners. 

Divisional Races

Qualified Scout Division	Those that qualified through your Mid-America Council District Race
Open Scout Graphite Division	Open to any currently registered Cub     Scout
Open Scout Oil Division	Open to any currently registered Cub     Scout
Open Kids Division	Open to any non-Cub Scout - under the age of 18
Open Adult Division	Open to any Adult over the age of 18

What do I WIN??

 

There will be over 200 trophies awarded:

• 1st - 12th Overall for Qualified Scout, Open Scout Graphite, Open Scout Oil, Kids Division, Adult Division. 
• Plus each rank in all Scout Divisions will be awarded 1st-6th. 
• Pro's will be awarded 1st - 6th in each Class. 
• A traveling Corporate Trophy. 1st-3rd in the Big Rig Division
• 8 Design Awards for the Scout Divisions
• Best of Show in Scouts, Kids, Adults and Pro's.
