On August 1, 2009, 19 year old Deontae Smith, a College Student, who was planning on going to the Air Force, lost his life due to gun Violence while attending an unlicensed block party. In the Englewood Community, on 61st and green Chicago, Il.
In this same Horrific Incident a young female, was shot and injured, Due to Two female fighting, Because of their fight. There were some young males that decided to shoot in a crowd of over a 100 people or more. Deontae Was a young man that gave back to his community, as much as he could by helping other.
Please sign this petition requesting, that In Honor and Memory Of Deontae Smith, a Street, Avenue, or Boulevard be named for him. The Street where Deontae, was shot was 61st and Green, and were he fell at when he was running was 950 west 61st, So renaming from 61st and green to 61st and morgan .
May the renaming urge us to take a more positive approach in fighting violent crime and reduce senseless gun violence in our communites. For The gun violence that claim our kids lives, futher, Dreams and Hope.
