The 2013 season has officially begun. Welcome to week one.

The 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games Open has officially begun. Welcome to week one.

As you've probably seen, the first workout has been announced. It is a 17-minute workout that looks a lot like a combination of last year's first two Open Workouts. It's burpees and increasing load snatches. It starts light, so everyone can do it, but the challenge escalates and the fittest will certainly differentiate themselves.

This workout also introduces a new tiebreak system. Your score will be total reps like in years past. Now, your time at the end of your last completed set of snatches will be used to rank you against all the athletes who also got your same score. See the Standards and Workout Demo for more information.

So far, more than 110,000 athletes, 2,400 teams, and 20,000 Masters have registered for this year's Open competition. More than 3,600 affiliates are represented from 115 countries around the globe. This is a huge jump from 2012, where we had 69,000 athletes compete. This is one of the world's largest participatory events.

To see your name on the Leaderboard and be in contention for Regionals, you must be registered, complete the workout and submit your score no later than 5 p.m. PT on Sunday, March 10.

If you miss registering by Sunday, no worries. You can still register and compete in the later week's workouts, but your scores will not affect the overall Leaderboard, and you cannot qualify for competition beyond the Open.

It's a new year, a clean whiteboard. Anything can happen. Welcome to the CrossFit Games Open.
