WIN $500Design the 2015 Steppin' Out t-shirt! Steppin' Out is a summer festival sponsored by the Downtown Blacksburg, Inc. and held on the first weekend in August of each year. August 7 & 8, 2015 will mark the 35th annual celebration.
Profits from T-shirt sales not only fund this event, but also are used to support downtown and community improvements and activities such as the Farmers Market, the Downtown Master Plan, downtown benches, the Hand-in-Hand playground, the Arts Initiative, economic development and numerous downtown festivals. ART WALK
Join us downtown on Friday October 3, 5-7pm for an Art Walk & Artsy Scavenger Hunt. Participating galleries will host Meet the Artist Receptions, serve light refreshments and have the answer to one of the questions on the Scavenger Hunt List.
Scavenger Hunt Forms can be collected from any participating gallery and completed forms must be returned to the Community Arts Information Office by 7:30pm (149 College Avenue).
Winners will be chosen by a random drawing of forms with correct answers.
A minimum of 6 questions must be answered to qualify for drawing.
Please take your time to enjoy the work on display in as many galleries as possible.

Saturday, October 4th will be our first "Potato and Pie Festival" from 12-6pm featuring potato dishes and pies, potato sack relay races, music, and a pie auction. All proceeds from the pie auction will benefit the Montgomery County Christmas Store. Donated pies are requested and should be brought to the winery by 2pm on October 4th. The auction will be at 5pm. PFLAG is a national organization made up of parents, families, friends, and allies united with people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT). PFLAG is committed to advancing equality and full societal affirmation of LGBT people through its threefold mission of support, education, and advocacy. Our local NRV PFLAG group meets regularly at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 1301 Gladewood Road in Blacksburg. We meet on the first* Monday of the month at 7 PM. We usually have a brief planned program and check-in, but focus on the interests and concerns of the people attending that night. Ribbon cutting ceremony with the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce October 16 at 3:30pm with a reception. Pat Buckley Moss will be at the ribbon cutting as well as in the Gallery all weekend. The Gallery will be open from 10-5 on Friday and Saturday and from 12-3 on Sunday and the newly released prints "Our Burruss Hall" and "Silent Sentinels" depicting the pylons at Va Tech will be available.
Our regular Business hours have changed as well. The P. Buckley Moss Gallery of Blacksburg will be open Monday-Saturday 10-5 and 12-4 on Sunday.

Susan Garrison Fundraiser- Sept 17
Susan Garrison, much-loved and admired Sustainability Manager for the Town of Blacksburg, passed away in February of 2013. A tireless environmental advocate, she helped establish Blacksburg's first Sustainability Week, launched the community's Climate Action Plan, and championed nearly all of the Town's sustainability initiatives.
To honor Susan's memory and continue her good works, a special fund has been generously established in her honor through the Community Foundation of the New River Valley. Money from this fund will be used each year to support a special community project that adds beauty to our community and fosters environmental stewardship.
This fund provides support to to the Town of Blacksburg in Blacksburg, Virginia for its use on projects and/or initiatives that promote or support environmental awareness, sustainability, and/or community beautification.
