Women’s Tennis to Host Devils For CACC Championship Opening Round Match

New Haven, Conn. – (10/20/2014) – With Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis schedule coming to a close on Sunday, October 19, the league has announced the seeding for the upcoming CACC Championship Tournament, which will be hosted at Chestnut Hill College on Saturday, October 25, and Sunday, October 26, for the seventh consecutive year. Serving as the #3 seed, the Griffins will host the #6 University of the Sciences (USciences) in a 2:00 p.m. Opening Round match on Tuesday, October 22.
 
The CACC will open its 2014-2015 Championships this week, as the league's women's tennis championship begins on Tuesday, October 21, with a pair of Opening Round matches at #3 Chestnut Hill College, versus #6 USciences, and #4 Philadelphia University, versus #5 Holy Family University. The winners of both matches will advance to the championship weekend, where the CACC regular season champion, #1 Concordia College (NY) will await the winner of the #4/#5 match in a 10:00 a.m. semifinal competition. #2 Goldey-Beacom College awaits the winner of the #3/#6 match in the 1:00 p.m. semifinal match.
 
Concordia College (NY) (8-0, 8-0) captured the CACC regular season crown with a perfect 8-0 record in league play while Goldey-Beacom College (10-1, 7-1) earn the second bye at the league's #2 seed after suffering their only defeat at the hands of the Clippers. With the CACC Women's Tennis Championship field expanding to six teams this season; Chestnut Hill College (7-3, 6-2) will stand as the top-ranked team in the Opening Round of play, which positions the Griffins opposite USciences in the #3/#6 match up. The cross-city rivals will square off for the second time in five days, as the Griffins downed the Devils in a 9-0 CACC regular season match on Friday, October 17. Another pair of Philadelphia schools will compete simultaneously at Philadelphia University (12-3, 5-3), who posted a 5-3 league mark to host for Holy Family University in the #4/#5 Opening Round match.
 
The winner of Saturday's two semifinal contests will face off on Sunday, October 26, in a 12:00 p.m. championship match that earns the victor the CACC's automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Championship, which will be held on campus nationwide on May 2-5, 2015.
