Storms Ahead: Hail and Strong Gusts

A look ahead to your weekend weather in the Chicago area.

Stormy weather — strong to severe with hail and strong wind gusts possible — is on tap for Saturday in the Chicago area after a dry, sunny and pleasant Friday, reports the National Weather Service. A cold front will approach the area Saturday afternoon. Ahead of this front conditions will be warmer, with highs likely reaching the low 80s. Thunderstorms are possible early in the day, but the best chance for storms is in the afternoon. Cooler, but dry weather will return to the area Sunday and into early next week.

  • SATURDAY: Cloudy, stormy. Warm and humid – highs in the low 80s.
  • SUNDAY: Partly sunny, less humid. Lake-effect showers possible Sunday night, mostly south and east of Chicago.
  • MONDAY: Partly sunny, cooler, especially along the lakefront. Temps in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
