On Monday, fittingly for Labor Day, country music sensation Carrie Underwood tweeted on the social media site, Twitter, that she and her husband, Mike Fisher, are expecting their first baby. Their family dogs, Ace and Penny, got in on the announcement, in a photo that Underwood included in the tweet. Ace had on a shirt that read he would be a “big brother,” and Penny had on one that said she would be a “big sister.” Underwood also posted the news on Instagram and Facebook.

Carrie Underwood’s husband, National Hockey League (NHL) player Mike Fisher, 34, who is a center for the Nashville Predators, tweeted that though they had not yet picked out any names, “it’s looking like Fly is gonna fly.” Fisher, who is recovering from a ruptured left Achilles tendon, will likely miss the the first few games of the season.

It is certainly good news for Tennessee country singer Carrie Underwood, 31, and her husband. They got married in July 2010. They had both been waiting to start up a family for a time that they considered to be, as Carrie Underwood stated in a recent interview, “that time in our lives.” It looks as if that special time has arrived for the happy couple. According to Underwood’s publicist, the baby’s due date will be sometime in the spring.  Carrie Underwood

Underwood’s career was launched in 2004, when she was on American Idol and won. The country music star won a CMT Music Award in June 2014 for Video of the Year for See You Again. She has won the same CMT award four other times and June’s CMT Music Award show marked her third consecutive win in the same category.

Also, Carrie Underwood, a member of the Grand Old Opry, has sold over 15 million albums around the world and has been awarded six Grammys. As if that was not enough, Underwood is the only woman who has won the Academy of Country Music‘s Entertainer of the Year Award two times.

Fans of Carrie Underwood can see her starting off the NBC’s Sunday Night Football on September 7 by singing Waiting All Day for Sunday Night. Eleven NFL players will be joining her, according to her official site.

She is on tour now, and this month Carrie Underwood will perform at the Ravinia Festival at Highland Park, Illinois, on September 6-7, as well as the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, in New York City, on September 27. Her latest album, Blown Away, is available in stores and online now. In November, Carrie Underwood will be returning along with Brad Paisley, to co-host the Country Music Awards (CMAs) show.

Many fans of Underwood’s have been wondering about when she and her husband, Mike Fisher, would be starting up a family with their first child. Now, those questions can be laid to rest, with the news that Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher have posted on their social media accounts that she is pregnant. With the busy schedule that is still ahead of her, it does not look like Underwood has any plans of letting her pregnancy slow her down, at least not for a while longer. Congratulations, Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher, on the great news!
