TexAnn Golf leads Concho Classic by seven strokes after day one

Freshman Casey Wild, reigning two-time LSC Player of the Year Isabel Jimenez-Perea lead the pack after opening round

SAN ANGELO – In their first action since finishing third in the NCAA National Championship last spring, Jerry Doyle's Tarleton TexAnns are back to work on the links and leading the pack at the Concho River Classic after day one.
 
As a team, the Texans are sitting atop the standings after the first 18 holes at Angelo State. Tarleton was 7-over par with a total score of 295 while the second-place team from St. Edward's was 16-over par at 304.
 
The TexAnns are also boasting the only two players in the tournament who were under par for the first round – Casey Wild and the reigning two-time LSC Player of the Year, Isabel Jimenez-Perea.
 
Wild, a freshman from Wodonga Australia, is the leader after day one at 2-under par with a score of 70. She recorded a par or better on every hole including two birdies on par-four holes. Meanwhile, Jimenez-Perea recorded a tournament-best four birdies on the opening day and recorded 11 pars.
 
Beatriz Prados checked in in a tie for fifth place at two-under par at 74 and was the day's best par-five hitter at two-under on par-five holes. Whitney Uselton (80) and McKenna Ralston (90) rounded out the TexAnn's five-person team score.
 
Behind Tarleton and St. Edward's in standings are: Newman (+17), Midwestern State (+23), St. Mary's (+23), Texas A&M-Commerce (+26), Incarnate Word (+28), Angelo State (+36) and Lubbock Christian (+48).
