MIAMI GARDENS - It was like so many training sessions they have had over the years. The only difference was it was in preparation for a NFL game. On an afternoon where special teams played a large role, St. Augustine graduate Caleb Sturgis and St. Joseph graduate Cairo Santos were right in the middle of proceedings Sunday when the Miami Dolphins hosted the Kansas City Chiefs.

At one point, an hour before kickoff, the two friends and St. Augustinians were less than 15 feet away from each other kicking off toward the south end zone. As kickoff approached, it was all business from there.

The Chiefs won 34-15. Santos, a rookie kicker for the franchise, kicked things off in front of 70,133 at Sun Life Stadium. After struggling in the first two games of his NFL career he was 4-for-4 on extra points. Sturgis, who entered the game 5-of-5 on field goals, converted from 22 and 51 yards, but missed a 48 yard attempt in the second quarter.
