(Bloomington, Ill.) - The Carroll University women's lacrosse team lost at Illinois Wesleyan University, 18-5.
Kailey Leahy led the Pioneers with a hat-trick while Donna January bagged a pair of goals.
The hosts jumped ahead 1-0 just over two minutes into the game but Leahy notched her first goal seconds later to knot the score at one each.
IWU would then go on to score seven of the game's next eight goals to gain control.
Carroll trailed 8-2 in the closing moments of the first half but Leahy and January scored back-to-back goals to pull to within 8-4 until Illinois Wesleyan scored late to make it 9-4 at the break.
The hosts dominated the second half, outscoring Carroll 9-1.
