A quasi-experimental, pretest/posttest quantitative study investigated whether there was a difference in performance outcomes of second language learners participating in two different multimedia learning environments: 1) images with audio only 2) images with audio and on-screen text. Participants were 230 undergraduates in an English course at a university in Thailand. A mixed-design analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was performed. Findings indicated there was no significant difference between the groups learning outcome changes from pretest to posttest.
