Xperia-Aquatech-Store-640x404Sony has had pretty clever ways of selling their products. For example with their waterproof MP3 player, it was sold inside of water bottles that can be purchased via a vending machine. It seems more of a marketing gimmick but it served its purpose, which is to advertise a product that is waterproof and ideal for gym use.

Well according to a new report, Sony is said to have plans on opening a store in Dubai in which they will be selling their Xperia smartphones. Well, so what? There are plenty of Sony stores around the world. Well the difference is that the store in Dubai is said to be the first Xperia Aquatech Store, which basically means that it will be an underwater store.

Customers will be escorted by trained divers to the store underwater which will be located four meters below the surface. Customers will then be able to browse Sony’s Xperia offerings and accessories which will be of the water resistant variety.

According to Rüediger Odenbach, Vice President of Sony Mobile Middle East and Africa, the Aquatech Store will offer “an exhilarating and unforgettable experience, highlighting Xperia’s passion for innovation in the smartphone market“. It sounds like a pretty awesome idea, to be honest, but will it help Sony sell more phones? We guess we’ll have to wait and see, but in the meantime is this a store you wouldn’t mind checking out?
