SHAROL MACKENZIE

Dancer

Sharol's first experience of dance was in her birthplace Swaziland. Moving to England in 2005, she soon obtained a place with Swindon Dance, a Centre for Advanced Training. She joined National Youth Dance Company in 2012, when she performed Jasmin Vardimon’s (in between) on a national tour. Her contemporary dance training progressed and she graduated from Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance with a first-class honours degree in 2017.

During her training at Rambert she worked with and performed pieces by a variety of choreographers, including Robert Cohan’s Songs, Praises and Lamentations and with Ross McKim’s company, Moving Visions. In her third year she performed alongside Rambert Dance Company in Mark Baldwin’s The Creation at Sadler’s Wells, a performance that was broadcast on the BBC. Later that year she also performed work by both Didi Veldman and Mark Bruce in Rambert’s final showcase. Between graduating from Rambert and joining VERVE she worked on short projects with Arielle Smith Dance, Richard Chappell and Mark Bruce.
