Women's Water Polo Goes 5-2 at the CWPA Tournament II

The Carthage College women's water polo team (9-5, 9-5 Collegiate Water Polo Association) went 5-2 at the Friday-Sunday, March 27-29 Collegiate Water Polo Association Tournament II at Connecticut College's Jane Cadwell Lott Natatorium in New London, Conn. 

Carthage blanked Macalester College, 11-0, on Friday, March 27 before losing to No. 6 Connecticut College by an 11-5 margin and then winning over Utica College, 14-2.  On Saturday, March 21, Lady Reds defeated Grove City College, 7-4, before losing to No. 8 Washington & Jefferson College by an 11-5 margin.  On Sunday, March 29, Carthage shut out Penn State-Behrend by a 13-0 margin before upending Monmouth College, 14-1.
 
In the Macalester match, Allie Booth (Fr., Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein), Jordan Crocker (Sr., Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) and Colleen Koepke (Jr., Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) each scored two goals with Amanda Boothe (Jr., Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein) collecting three assists.  Goalkeeper Ashley McGhee (Sr., Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) was credited with the shutout, along with 14 saves.
 
Allie Booth scored twice in the loss to Connecticut College, with Amanda Boothe getting two saves.  McGhee had 12 saves and two steals in the match.  Carly Strass (So., Western Springs, Ill./La Grange-Lyons Township) set a school record with seven assists against Utica, with Koepke and Brittany Wallace (Jr., Niles, Ill./Wilmette-Loyola Academy) scoring three goals each.
 
Strass scored two goals against Grove City, while Amanda Boothe had two assists and McGhee 11 saves.  In the Washington & Jefferson contest, Wallace scored three times with Allie Booth getting two assists.  Crocker and Sammi Craig (Sr., Chicago Ridge, Ill./Oak Lawn-Richards) each scored twice against Penn State-Behrend, with McGhee collecting 10 saves.  Allie Boothe, Amanda Boothe and Wallace each scored two goals against Monmouth, with Strass collecting four assists and McGhee 11 saves.
