Two bushfires burning north and south of Perth are no longer a threat to lives and homes but residents have been warned to stay on their guard as firefighters continue to battle the blazes.

The Department of Emergency Services had issued bushfire watch and act alerts for Roelands, east of Australind, and in Chittering, for a fire which started near the intersection of Great Northern Highway and Blue Plains Road.

But by 4.30pm the alert level for both fires had been downgraded to advice level.

The advice in Roelands applies to people east of Livingstone Heights and north of Quarry Road in the Shire of Harvey.

The advice in Chittering applied to people in and near Blue Plains Estate in the Shire of Chittering.

In both cases residents are advised to keep up to date in case the situation changes.

The Roelands fire is listed as being controlled but not yet contained, while the Chittering blaze is neither contained nor controlled.
