AUGUSTA, Ga. (Volleyball) – The Paine College Lady Lions came out red hot and defeated the Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley, 3-0, on Senior Night.
Breanna Orton, the lone senior for the Lady Lions, and her teammates refused to be denied the victory as they won with set scores of 25-22, 25-16, and 25-19.
With the win, Paine moves to 13-17, overall and 8-8 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. Fort Valley falls to 6-22, overall and 3-10 in conference play. The victory also places the Lady Lions in position to claim a seed in the SIAC Volleyball Tournament.
Tiera Daugherty led Paine with eight kills, followed by
Deja Sims-Dean and
Jasper Lewis with six.
Kayla Lewis kept the table set for the Lady Lions with 12 assists for the night. Defensively,
Rachel Walker led the team with nine digs.
The Lady Wildcats were led by Briana Shepard with 13 kills. Alysia Harris has the most assists of any player with 17. Cori Hawkins, Megan Archie, and Raven Connor each finished the night with four digs.
Paine will travel on Oct. 30 to Columbia, S.C. to face Livingstone College Allen University in a tri-match.
