Snake River Fund and Jackson Hole Kayak Club host this family-friendly event showcasing a variety of paddling and conservation inspired films including rafting, kayaking, canoeing around the globe. Proceeds from the evening will benefit youth engagement on the waters of Jackson Hole. Let’s give winter the boot and bring in a splashy summer.
Tickets are $10/adult and $5/kid.

WHAT: The Studio Project 2017

WHERE: Center for the Arts Glenwood Lobby and Conference Room
The Art Association of Jackson Hole and National Museum of Wildlife Art are pleased to present an exhibition showcasing the artwork created by the students of The Studio Project. Participants of The Studio Project studied painting techniques in a museum setting, prepared a portfolio, and gained experience hanging and executing an exhibition opening. The program aims to build self-confidence and leadership skills, expose students to professional critique, and give them new ideas for college study and careers. This project is made possible with support from the Cross Charitable Foundation.
WHAT: Jackson Hole Elkfest
WHEN: Saturday, Sunday, May 20-21
WHERE: Jackson Hole. Elkfest events take place on the Jackson Hole Town Square. Mountain Man Rendezvous and Traders’ Row at Teton County Fairgrounds.
The highlight of Elkfest weekend is the 50th annual Boy Scouts Antler Auction where thousands of pounds of naturally shed elk antlers, collected by Wyoming’s hard working Boy Scouts, are sold at an exciting live auction. Guests of Elkfest can also enjoy feeding their appetites at the popular High Noon Chili Cook-Off (Sunday at noon) with samples from a variety of local chefs and organizations.
WHAT: Jackson Hole GIANTS breakfast
WHEN: Saturday, May 20, 7am – 1pm
WHERE: Town Square
Members of the JH Giants will be serving delicious, hot breakfast sandwiches along with hot dogs and hamburgers during the Antler Auction to raise money for Jackson Hole Youth Baseball.
Giants then play ball that afternoon! Come watch and support the Giants.
WHAT: Summer opening of the Tram at JHMR
WHEN: Saturday, May 20
WHERE: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
Things get rolling at the Village as JHMR fires up the tram for summer operation. Still plenty of snow on top to play in. Remember, no skiing inbounds but some backcountry areas are still holding up well.
Community radio station KHOL will be DJ’ing live from JHMR for opening day of the tram on Saturday. They will be there from 8:30am-12:30pm, and raffling off tickets to experience the JHMR Via Feratta attraction opening this summer.

WHAT: 2nd Annual Wyoming Backcountry Adventure Workshop
WHEN: Saturday, May 20, 4:30 – 8:30pm
WHERE: Lodge at JH Conference Center
“We are excited to host this event for our community and the region,” said Amy Golightly, Associate Director of TCSAR Foundation. “To fulfill the vision of Backcountry Zero and reduce fatalities and serious injuries in the backcountry, it’s crucial that we offer opportunities for the community to build their skills and learn about backcountry safety. Our local guides, outfitters and instructors and our own TCSAR Volunteers have a wealth of knowledge to share. It’s incumbent upon us as backcountry users to make a habit of learning, practicing our backcountry skills and striving to reduce risk wherever we can.”
The event will include 5 different sport specific tracks and over 15 different educational sessions for hikers, climbers/mountaineers, mountain bikers, paddlers and paragliders. Topics will include What’s In Your Pack, What’s In Your Boat, First Aid, Terrain Navigation, and much more.
The keynote presentation “Intelligent Mistakes: Why Bad Things Happen to Good People” by the renowned author of Deep Survival, Laurence Gonzales will follow at 7pm. A limited number of free books are available at Teton County Library while supplies last.

Wall climbs, mud crawls, and mystery obstacles over four miles will challenge individuals and teams throughout the scenic Jackson course. This year’s beneficiary is Teton Adaptive Sports.

The cat is legendary. For two decades OC Kaht was sort of the feline ambassador of Jackson. Countless tourists were photographed with him. Come share your story or just learn more about the coolest cat ever.
