Twitter Just Removed the 140 Character Limit: Here's How to Use It...

A few weeks ago, with little fanfare, Twitter made a major change to its user interface allowing marketers to get around the 140 character limit.

To those of us who found the 140 character limit - well -  limiting, this is great news.

Now when you retweet twitter content you get to add your comments too.  Look at the illustration below.  Once you click retweet, you have an additional 140 characters.

This is a fantastic opportunity to add your own spin to a tweet.

I always say when I speak publicly on social media marketing that even if you do not have your own content, you can always "wrap yourself around other's content" and be just as successful at getting your message to your target market.

Does this only work on Twitter's website?  No.  Twitter released an update to their iPhone app that allows this too (not sure about Android, but I would guess there was an update to twitter there too).  To add your own comment on the Twitter mobile app, just select "quote tweet" and voila.

Thats it for today.  Go ahead and try it (with this article on Twitter too ;) and share your results below.

Please note: If you like my article the best way you can show your approval is with a comment, like and share.  Thanks!  And you can follow me on twitter, here.
