Box Score 2 ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers won both games of a doubleheader against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday at Rab Rodgers Field. The Tigers pitching staff held the Rangers to only seven hits and one run in both games combined. Ouachita took game one, 8-0 and followed up with a 6-1 win in game two.
Connor Reed (1-1) pitched a complete-game shutout for the Tigers, allowing only five hits through nine innings. He struck out a season-high 10 batters, while only walking four. Reed pitched himself out of a bases-loaded jam in the the third inning.
Shortstop
Justin Weigle hit a two-run shot, his fourth of the year, over the wall in right to give the Tigers an early 2-0 lead. Weigle finished the game going 2-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Jace Melby continued to collect hits at a torrid pace, going 4-5 at the plate and scoring two runs.
Reuben Miller went 3-4 in game one with two RBI.
Parker Norris drove in two runs and picked up his third stolen base of the season. Catcher
Matt Sinclair collected a RBI with his only hit of the game and scored a run for the Tigers.
Freshman
John Franklin Matros got the start in game two and improved his record to 4-1 with a complete game victory. He allowed only one run on four hits through seven innings, Matros struck out three and walked one.
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning, the Tigers responded with five runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 5-1 lead. They added another run in the sixth and held on to win 6-1 to sweep the series.
Weigle went 3-3 in game two with two doubles and a RBI. As a team, the Tigers scored six runs on seven hits in the game. On the day, the Tigers went 23-60 at the plate, scoring 14 runs on 23 hits. They combined for eight extra base hits, including seven doubles.
The Tigers will host the Harding Bisons at Rab Rodgers Field on Tuesday, March 31. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
