Althea Petal Velvet Powder

Where I got it: I was sent this from Althea Korea as part of a blogger’s review campaign. They sent me the product in return for my honest review and opinion. You can get this from their website for USD$4.50. Althea is a website for K-beauty products that ships worldwide. They have a user-friendly app where you can save your favourite brands, add products to your wish list and see what’s trendy in the K-beauty world. They recently developed their new makeup product which is this loose powder which is super affordable!

What I got: This is the Althea Petal Velvet Powder (3g of powder). Althea’s very own product range is here, and we’re starting off strong with the Petal Velvet Powder! This debuting beauty is a translucent powder that sets makeup and leaves behind a silky finish to the touch. Infused with oil from Althea seeds, this powder works to keep sebum production at bay without drying out the skin for a radiant, fresh look, all while giving out a gentle scent. Keep your makeup looking great all day or dust some on to stay shine-free! This translucent powder does not add colour to the skin, it is cruelty-free and fragrance-free.

How I find it: The powder comes with a soft puff in a plastic case. It is lightweight and simple in packaging. I like to use this to set my foundation before I apply blush and highlighter. I also like to use this to set my undereye area because it is so finely milled and soft on the skin, it helps my concealer from creasing. Immediately, my skin felt velvety soft and looking matte, but not dead flat. I like to use a large powder brush to pick up the product and dust it all over my face. The puff is nice, but I would probably only use it on the go.

Overall: I actually quite like the simple packaging of this which makes it so affordable and I know that I am paying for the product, not the packaging. The powder is so fine and soft, when I accidentally spilled some on my hands and wiped it off with my fingers, I couldn’t feel a thing! It doesn’t leave a white cast or make me look ghostly with the mattifying effect. My skin looks smooth and soft and feels velvety-smooth. I am impressed in how good it kept my face makeup in place especially in my t zone area. Usually after about 4 hours, my foundation starts to melt and get into lines and pores. My face would start to get oily as well. However, this powder seemed to make a difference and I really like it! $4.50 is definitely something I would repurchase.
