Here are five local matchups to keep an eye on this week:
1. Boys swimming and diving: Kamiak at Shorewood, 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Kamiak enters with an 11-0 record. The Thunderbirds are 8-0. Something has to give.
2. Girls basketball: Kamiak at Lake Stevens, 7:15 p.m. Wednesday. Lake Stevens (11-2 overall, 6-1 Wesco 4A) has won eight straight and is in second place in the conference. The Knights (8-5, 5-2) are right behind in the standings, so a win in this one would be big for them.
3. Wrestling: Arlington at Everett, 5:45 p.m. (girls), 7 p.m. (boys) Thursday. Arlington’s boys squad is ranked seventh in the state 3A rankings by washingtonwrestlingreport.com and sports a 7-0 dual record, just head of the Seagulls, who are 8-1. There will be plenty of talent on display in the girls’ match as well.
4. Boys basketball: Edmonds-Woodway at Shorecrest, 7:15 p.m. Thursday. The two teams are tied for second place in Wesco 3A with 5-1 marks.
5. Girls basketball: Lynnwood at Shorewood, 7:15 p.m. Friday. The Royals (9-4, 5-0) had a great run last week, defeating a pair of state-ranked teams in Snohomish and Stanwood. They’ll look to continue their momentum against the Thunderbirds (13-1, 5-1), another Wesco 3A contender.
