Be ready to market yourself. You are the CEO of your career. Every time you're going into a job interview, a meeting, or even out for a cup of coffee you are marketing your skill set, your brand of solution, you are marketing you! In the interview context the following three things have come up for me in the last year, check them out on my Sacred Time blog.
Your gut or your on-the-ground intelligence may be able to tell you why you didn't get a call back. In some cases you may never know. Here are a few reasons to consider:
-
They think you're overqualified.
-
The position no longer exists.
If you'd like to read more on my thoughts of these reasons, you can check out the Sacred Time blog.
Whether you did well or underperformed, got the job or didn't, I think it's important to process what you did right and what you could improve upon. It increases your chances of succeeding in your next interview, but possibly more importantly, you are able to vent and let go of what was so that you can be free to move on to what could be.
What should you pay careful attention to getting right on your resume and job applications?
-
Your job title and advancement. Your job title advertises your skill set. Are you painting an accurate picture?
-
Your salary. Even if HR people do not check what you say about your pay, they know the range for your role. Are you selling yourself short with inaccurate information?
-
Your degree or GPA. If you're vague you come across as hiding something. If you round up you are not being truthful. Are you hurting your chances at an opportunity?
Would you be interested in a meeting dedicating to the search for the next great opportunity? Message me and let's make it happen.

Insights for Your Journey
That season of decision where you are going through trials…waiting…preparing…that is a breaking down so that you can be built back up. This is what happens in the wilderness. You go for a hike and the more strenuous the journey, the more tired you are, the more your attitude is polished. The payoff is in the climb.
When I think of tide I also remember my time shadowing a wilderness therapy program where we traveled by boat for two weeks. At night we anchored in the middle of coves and tried to sleep. The force of the changing tides nearly knocked me off the oars I used as a bed.
With these experiences I can see gifts as talents that don’t always get a chance to show but when they do they can rock your world!
In the Autumn and Spring seasons it is most noticeable for me that even in a time of transition there is always movement to another season. So, if you’re not moving your body you’re moving your mind.
Unlike the earth we can feel as though we are stuck. … If you stop telling yourself you can’t move forward and start telling yourself you can, you free yourself up to find ways to make your move.
Are you moving? How do you know? If you’re not, how can you get moving?

When something bad happens -- we lose a job, assignment or role -- that isn't part of our plan or what we want and it hurts us deeply or even wounds us. Inspired by my quest work I'd like to set aside time to acknowledge and release the pain so that together we can heal, learn, and return to being productive in our lifework.
Whether you have a business you've started or your business is your career join us in person or over the phone for a discussion of the places, people, and events that help us get our message across.
