If you noticed the Empire State Building with Grateful Dead imagery last night, you weren’t imagining it! The NYC landmark featured a light display that was synchronized to the Dead’s performance of “U.S. Blues”, capping the band’s July 4th celebration at Soldier Field. While the Dead were jamming in Chicago, the building was celebrating the Dead and America in NYC.

The show was orchestrated by both the band and Empire State Building lighting director Marc Brickman. If you missed the Empire State spectacular, fear not! There will be an encore performance tonight, at 9 PM Eastern, with the “U.S. Blues” studio track playing on local radio station Q104.3.
