This week's new and special...

DAVID AUSTIN ROSES -
These English roses thrive at Windrose!!  The dry climate helps us grow roses and apples without all the spras required for both in more humid areas.  It is another one of those great surprises.

THE DROUGHT -
We are learning other results from the dryness that are not so fun.  We are lucky to have a good water supply, but it is still very dry all around us.  So all the squirrels, rabbits, deer and birds have our address!!!
So if you notice some things not showing up at market or at the farmstand, there is a good reason!  Bill has been spending a couple months working with a new setup of equipment that includes a tape layer for putting teh T-Tape in the ground not on top.   The birds and all creatures were poking holes everywhere to find water.  So we missed a planting set during that time.  But,  we will be able to deal with all sorts of issues of water and weeds more successfully.  So big picture this is already making a big difference in conserving water and labor.   Good things !

POTATOES -
We will be digging on Monday a few rows to keep some supply going. We will have Onaway, Rose Gold and the first of the Island Sunshine.   The Sunshine is a wonderful all-  purpose yellow  that roasts and mashes so well.
FRUIT -  Crazy - but we have the first of tHE Golden Dorsett and Anna apples. And some very cool early plums.  They were planted in the house garden so we have no idea what we put in all that time ago!  Usually we do not get any fruit   But with the warmer spring, they are fine.! Also, first of the yellow peaches are in and boy are they good!
