Ice Bucket Challenge money funds research and expands services
The Ice Bucket Challenge took the country by storm, raising over $115 million for the ALS association.Susan Walsh, a director of clinical services for the association says the money is being used to fund research and expand services for patients.The ALS clinic in Hershey operates at a cost of around $500,000 a year. Scott Stieber of Lancaster is one of 240 patients and was diagnosed in 2011 with ALS.He goes through a battery of tests and counseling every three months. Anything not covered by insurance is free.A large portion of the Ice Bucket money will be used for genetic research.Watch Susan Shapiro's report here
