So many amazing supporters
of Liberated Muse Arts Group have asked over the years if we had a CD available that contains the  original music and poetry featured in our most recent tribute shows to Gil Scott-Heron, Maya Angelou, Ruby Dee and other transformational creatives. We also have been asked to record some of our original pieces that give voice to the issues impacting Black people in America.
We decided that 2017 would be the year to work on producing our debut CD.

The CD will feature songs written by and featuring the vocals and musicianship of our company members Khadijah "Moon" Ali-Coleman , Colie Williams , Anonamas and Lyn Artope. Your support would allow us to pay to have the CD recorded and mastered.  We also would like to be able to pay for any musicians or special guests we choose to add on any of the songs.

We will send you a free download of the completed CD when you make a donation of $20 or more!! You can make a payment here or via PayPal to LiberatedMuseArts at gmail dot com. If you make a PayPal payment, we will still acknowledge your contribution here and through social media. We thank you in advance!

What We Have Contributed to the World:

Sometimes, it is hard for folks to donate their hard-earned money if they believe the organizations and individuals asking for money are selfishly asking for help on vanity projects or things that don't contribute to the greater world. With your donation, know that you are supporting an arts collective that for almost ten years has been contributing to the arts communities in Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia and online through arts programs, performances and projects primarily funded out of the pockets of its members.

Timeline:

2008-2012  Our online community LiberatedMuse.com was created by Khadijah Ali-Coleman . This community existed from 2008-2012 and allowed members to share videos, artwork and collaborate virtually.

2008-2010 Khadijah partnered with another entrepreneur to create the Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest through a business partnership called Liberated Muse Productions. The festival took place in Marvin Gaye Park in the northeast part of Washington DC. The festival ran for three summers and was free and open to the public.  It was covered by local and national media, including MTV, National Geographic, FOX News, NBC, Washington City Paper and more.

2009 Khadijah put a call out to the Liberated Muse digital community for literary and visual artists and edited the first book anthology Liberated Muse Volume I: How I Freed My Soul, paying for the publishing costs out of pocket. More than a dozen writers and visual artists were featured in the anthology and during performances promoting the book.

2009-2012 Liberated Muse produced more than four benefit concerts at the Potter's House in Washington DC  to support area charities and nonprofits including Southeast Ministry, and DC College Success Foundation.

2010 Liberated Muse produced the play "Running: AMOK" written by Khadijah Ali-Coleman, music composed by Gary Young. It debuted in the 5th Annual Capital Fringe Festival in Washington DC. The play was covered by local media, including the Prince George's County Gazette.  A soundtrack to the play was released later that year.

2010 Liberated Muse organized a benefit concert for the survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. The benefit, "To Haiti, with Love" raised over $400 for relief in Haiti.

2011 A second season of Running: AMOK runs for five days, with stops at Germano's, the Bonifant Theater, The Corner Store, Oxon Hill Library and Annie's Art Gallery.

2012 The second anthology, Liberated Muse Volume II: Betrayal Wears a Pretty Face was released.

2013 Liberated Muse Arts Group was the first La-Ti-Do artists-in-residence at Black Fox Lounge in Washington, DC for the month of August. La-Ti-Do is an award-winning weekly performance series highlighting musical theater and spoken word.

2012-2014 The Liberated Muse musical stage production In Her Words debuted at Martin Luther King, Jr. Public Library in Washington DC. The show toured the Washington DC area, commissioned by the United States Peace Corps and other branches of the DC Public Library system in 2012. In following years, the production was commissioned by the Smithsonian, Alexandria Library System, and festivals in the area.

2014-present Liberated Muse has provided arts educational programming , including workshops on topics such as Music Licensing, the Business of Art, etc. while also performing in events catering to audiences of all ages. Liberated Muse performance stops have included the DC Poetry Festival, Artscape Festival, the Artomatic, AllNightDC Festival, the Taste of Black DC, the Adams Morgan Day Festival, and more.

2015 Debuted the sold-out improv musical theater show "Madame Breezy's Speakeasy" at Viccino's in Silver Spring, MD.

2015 Began the open mic and performance series #theSPILL which ran for almost a year. It began in Washington DC and ended in Baltimore, hosted by Liberated Muse troupe member Anonamas Grooves. The platform featured artists such as CynDiva Harcum, Brian Christopher, Nia Simmons, Kenny Sway, Dior Ashley Brown, and more!

2016 Participated in #BeyondtheHashtag and other rallies and events bringing awareness and building advocacy around issues impacting African-American communities
