THIBODAUX, La. – The Nicholls State University women's soccer team fell to Stephen F. Austin University 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Nicholls Soccer Complex.
 
The Colonels (7-7, 3-4 SLC) allowed two quick goals by the Ladyjacks (12-2-1, 8-0 SLC) and were never able to close the deficit.
 
SFA opened the scoring in the 19^th minute when Chelsea Raymond fired a long shot that beat a diving Taylor Mosely for the goal. Less than a minute later, Raymond sent a pass from left to right, finding Hailey Hunt in the middle of the field. Hunt's shot snuck under Mosley for the second score of the match.
 
In the 22^nd minute, Hannah Savoie launched a deep curving shot from 45 yards out that under the crossbar and over the arms of Morgan Glick to cut the lead in half. Neither team would score for the remainder of the period and the Ladyjacks took a 2-1 lead into halftime.
 
In the 60^th minute, Raymond earned her second score of the match, collecting a pass from Hanna Barker and pushing a shot that bounced straight down off of the crossbar and landed just inches inside the goal for the final point of the match.
 
Savoie registered the lone score for Nicholls.
 
Raymond scored twice and assisted on the third goal by Hunt for SFA.
 
The Colonels will host Houston Baptist at 4 p.m. on Friday before taking on Central Arkansas at 11 a.m. on Sunday for the final home match of the season.
