What is ACT UP/NY?
In March of 1987, ACT UP formed in New York City by a group of people as a diverse, nonpartisan group of individuals united in anger and committed to direct action to end the AIDS crisis. We meet with government and health officials; we research and distribute the latest medical information. We protest and demonstrate; we are not silent. We challenge anyone who, by their actions or inaction, hinders the fight against AIDS.
Why should you donate?
Over the last three years ACT UP/NY has won a string of victories in activism and has mounted more home-grown protests than in the previous decade. We’re enlisting your help to turn up the volume on AIDS activism in New York. ACT UP is a 100% volunteer organization that operates as a direct democracy with no paid staff – every dollar supports direct action and campaigns to improve policy and community mobilization. Your donation can help continue to save lives!
Help ACT UP reach our goal of raising $10,000 so we can:
· Join lobby days to advocate for implementation of Governor Cuomo’s Plan to End the AIDS Epidemic in NY by 2020.
· Rent a float and booth at NY Pride to distribute HIV/AIDS information
· Meet with government and health officials to demand action for treatment, care and prevention
· Protest and demonstrate against anyone who hinders the fight against AIDS
· Print flyers and posters for our creative, life-saving demonstrations
· Cover the rental costs of our Monday night meeting space at the LGBT Center

How much to give?
We offer six different incentives that can be viewed below. The rewards include stickers, buttons, T-Shirts, shoutouts on social media, and an honorary Plaque to recognize your contribution.
Any amount is appreciated and will be put to good use. Even $5 will enable us to buy materials to make three posters, or 50 copies of a fact sheet.
Your $15 donation could help fund an activist’s fare for a bus trip to attend a demonstration, and earn our grateful thanks!
*Donations are not tax-deductible. Incentive prizes will be mailed at your request or will be available upon request for pick-up at any ACT UP meeting.
You also can support us by getting involved. ACT UP is open to everyone and meets every Monday night at 7 pm at the LGBT Center on 218 West 13th Street in New York City.
