State Troopers are returning to State Route 347 on Friday, this time focusing on commercial vehicles.

Last week, officers with the Department of Public Safety ticketed 65 drivers for speeding in on SR 347 north of Maricopa. PCSO ran another speed detail this week.

Sgt. Steven Sekrecki announced the commercial-vehicle detail will run from approximately 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., checking weight, loose cargo and moving violations. Officers will particularly look for loose rocks falling from trucks, endangering other vehicles.

He said they will also be looking for impairment, speeding and other drivers driving dangerously around commercial vehicles.

State Route 238 will also be affected.

Sekrecki said there will be roving patrols on SR 347, but portable scales will be set up on SR 238 not far from the intersection with SR 347. He said it will run like a check point, pulling in as many commercial vehicles as possible for weighing.

The Department of Transportation will be on hand to assist.
