FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - The Frederick County liquor board has approved the selling of souvenir beer at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine.
The Frederick News-Post (https://bit.ly/1U4aw4g ) reports the board voted Monday to approve a license for packaged beer sales in the museum’s gift shop.
Officials say the commemorative Civil War-themed beers would have to remain closed in packaging and may not be opened on the museum’s property.
David Price, the chief of operations for the museum, says a partnership with Brewer’s Alley has produced several specialty beers in the past, including Gettysburg Wheat, Antietam Ale, First Draught and Proclamation Porter.
Price says Distillery Lane Ciderworks may produce a private label for sale at the museum. Price says the museum also hopes to partner with other farm breweries in the area.
