Love Flash Mob
I got love flash mobbed this month. I didn’t even know it was a thing. We left our only working computer in Uganda when we travelled over because it was frequently overheating, and like everything else we put it on our “Please, God, make a way” list. Then, Emily Silvola called and said, “A group of us nominated you, and an organization called TogetHER Rising decided to buy you a new computer. Congratulations!” I don’t typically accuse my friends of scamming me, but I didn’t know how else to ask, “Is this fake?” Indeed it wasn’t fake. I received a check in the mail to order any computer of my choice. So, as I type this update from my dad’s computer I wait anxiously for my new computer to arrive. I realize how overwhelmingly encouraging it is to get a surprise like this—to be loved and cheered on so ferociously. I imagine every woman could use a fresh wind of that every now and again. This entire process has filled my cup. I’m left with a self-examination of sorts. Who am I pursuing with ferocious encouragement? Do I seek to encourage more than I seek to criticize? The founder of TogetHER Rising and Momastery blogger Glennon Melton says, “The only meaningful thing we can offer one another is love. Not advice, not questions about our choices, not suggestions for the future, just love.” What about you? Who are you overwhelming with encouragement and love?

NSCAA Soccer Coaching Diploma

HE DID IT! In his 3rd attempt over the last 4 years Abdul has finally begun working toward his national diploma in soccer coaching through the National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America. This 45 hour course combines practical evaluations, coaching analysis, lectures by seasoned practitioners, and final exams. We’ll travel once more to Spokane, Washington on July 31st for his final weekend of course work. It’s a bonus to know that all the insight he receives goes to benefit our 80+ players in Uganda!

“Where in the world is the Seruyange family?”
The goal of this visit to the states has two parts—to rest and to share. We’ve spent several weeks hibernating in the mountains of Montana, and it could not have come at a better time for our family. We have soaked up time with Grand Daddy and Grammy and we’ve taken walks and we’ve eaten cherries and we’ve watched the sun set at10:00PM. Now, we’re beginning to look toward the 2nd part of our visit—sharing the story of Terra Nova. We’re energized to continue telling friends, groups, companies, complete strangers—whoever will listen—about the work that consumes our hands and hearts at this little school in Kampala that keeps growing and growing. Take a look at the places we’re hoping to get to if our travel budget will allow. As always, we’ll go anywhere to talk about Terra Nova as long as we can afford to get there. Here are our hopeful destinations so far. Email Alisha at tnauganda@gmail.com if you’re interested in connecting or getting our family from one place to another.

Interested in hosting a Terra Nova Fashion Night?

We’re fundraising for Terra Nova through fashion this year. We’ve partnered with Terra Nova moms and Arabella Jane Jewelry to create some incredibly unique pieces for sale. A couple of our moms have made sweet skirts from vibrant African fabrics. Arabella Jane gifted us with original jewelry pieces that combine the best of African paper beads with dazzling vintage treasures. We’re selling plain paper beaded pieces as well. Our goal is to raise money for our new 2ndgrade class coming in 2016. We also want to raise the $3,000 it will cost to pay rent for our school building for October, November, and December of 2015. Check our list of destinations, and let us know if you’re willing to host a fashion night at your home, church or workplace.

Those Who Pray
·         Doors of opportunity are beginning to open for Terra Nova in some big ways. Pray for God’s continued provision and direction on this adventure. We need enormous resources to walk toward the next phase of Terra Nova which involves an expanded elementary school which will serve 235 students at full capacity. Pray specifically for the $30,000 needed to expand. When we can share more, we will!
·         Our hearts are still mending from a broken relationship with one of our founding partners. We feel certain God is with us, steering our leadership in wisdom and integrity, even when we don’t always understand. Pray for God’s peace to heal our wounds.
·         Bethany is fierce and on the front lines until August 10th! Keep praying for God to supply the strength, energy, health, discernment, and joy to keep Terra Nova on track in our absence.
·         Pat and Emily Silvola travel to Uganda on August 30th to pick up the torch of doing the daily grind of Terra Nova. God has provided 100% of their funding. Thanks be to God! Remember to pray for this couple as they travel and transition to Uganda.
·         We’re looking for 10 more to join our Financial Support Team! Pray for us as we consider asking specific people to invest in Terra Nova.
