Armed robbery charges, Edge Hill

Two 17-year-old men have been charged following the armed robbery of a business in Edge Hill last night.

It will be alleged that the pair entered the video store on Woodward Street just before 9.30pm with their identities concealed and demanded cash from the attendant.

When the attendant refused, it will be further alleged that one of the men produced a hatchet and the other produced a knife.

The attendant then complied and the men left the store on-foot with a sum of cash, running south on Pease Street, toward Greenslopes Street.

Both men were apprehended by Cairns Dog Squad officers near Oxley Street.

Both 17-year-old Redlynch men have been charged with one count each of armed robbery and will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
