A stylish cat with its own snazzy wardrobe has won our coveted Pet Idol 2014 competition.

Kyar Pu, a yellow and black tabby cat, has a quirky array of a-mewsing outfits including a leather jacket, a raincoat, a dinner jacket and a Santa suit.

He also has his own high-visibility jacket which impressed binmen visiting his street so much they took photos of him.

And he can often been seen showing off one of his outfits while on a walk with a harness and lead around his home in Standrick Hill Rise, Stalybridge.

His proud owner Thant Tun, who buys his clothing from Pets at Home and pet websites, said: “Our binmen spotted that he was wearing a jacket like theirs and took photos of him. He even has his own little Santa outfit and he has a T-shirt for Halloween and a sheriff’s outfit. And he has about a dozen coats. He walks proudly in them.

“He’s happy to wear the outfits as long as they are not covering his face or restricting him.”

Thant, 46, a nurse clinician at The Christie hospital, and her husband Mark got four-year-old Kyar when he was seven-weeks-old.

He was given his name, which means Tiny Tiger in Burmese, because of his appearance.

Thant put him forward for the competition because of his stunning appearance and Facebook following. And he was crowned the overall winner of the competition, which received hundreds of entries.

Thant added: “We decided to get a cat and looked on the internet. I found Kyar’s photos and he looked very cute. With his yellow and black markings he looks like a tiny tiger.

“He is very shy with strangers but he is a very happy cat and he’s quite territorial.

“He chases away other cats who come near our home and he is the king of the house.

“When we are at work we have a machine programmed to call him with our voices and it dispenses biscuits for him.

“He has got beautiful eyes and he has already got quite a few fans from people who follow him through my Facebook page. He’s like a little person.”

Thant is planning to use Kyar’s prize of £100 in Pets at Home vouchers to buy him some toys and other treats, and a replacement for his favourite well-worn soft toy bunny. For Christmas he’s getting a new scratch pad and a toy house.
