BJP seeks relief from stray dog menace

Bharatiya Janata Party, Puducherry Unit on Tuesday sought the Local Administration Department to take immediate action to save the public from the stray dog menace.

V. Saminathan, general secretary of BJP said in several parts of the city, packs of dogs attacked children and adults. As they roam on streets, they chase vehicles and are the cause of accidents.

Alleging that animal welfare organisations prevent the actions of the officials of Puducherry Government in this regard, Mr. Saminathan sought to know whether such organisations would come forward to take care the dogs in their custody in separately in the interest of larger public.

As the number of dogs has been increasing, public are afraid of walking on the roads.

He said private entities and government authorities should come forward to take animal birth control measures.

Animal husbandary department and animal welfare organisations should jointly take care of dogs which underwent birth control procedures.
