Ferguson Named SIAC Baseball Player of the Week

Atlanta, Ga. (3-24-15)--Claflin University sophomore Wendell Ferguson has been tabbed this week Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) baseball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Ferguson, a 6-0, 175, Chicago, Ill. native, had a .538 batting average totaling seven hits including six singles and a triple with two RBI. Ferguson went three for four including the game winning hit in the opening game of the series against Morehouse. He went two for three in the final game of the series. The Panthers were 3-1 for the week.
 
Claflin, who has won its last three conference series, will face St. Augustine College, Wednesday, March 25, before returning to conference play this weekend, Friday-Saturday, March 28-29, when they host Benedict College.  The three-game series opens with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28 at 12 noon.  The series concludes with a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
All Panther home baseball games are played at Historic Mirmow Field in Orangeburg, S.C.  and are free and open to the public.
