This is my youngest child, Xander. Xander turned 4 in January. I have to admit, he wasn't fully, 100% potty trained until he was about 3. This of course wasn't for lack of trying, mind you. We introduced the potty early, and encouraged him to use it often. My stubborn little man....Well....He wasn't going to use the potty until he was good and ready. For awhile, it was literally a battle of wills. He would poop in his pants simply because he could. Eventually, he finally got the memo that big boys use the potty, and we said goodbye to diapers and training pants for good. After a lot of ups and downs, our potty training from Tesco journey is complete. Even if it DID take a REALLY long time. (Can I get a collective "Hallelujah" here?)
After talking to a lot of my Mommy friends, I have come to the conclusion that boys can be harder to potty train than girls. In my house this is true, at least. My daughter seemed to automatically take to the potty, and has had very few, if any, accidents. Both of my boys were stubborn when it came time to use the potty, even though they completely understood the concept. If potty training your boys has you ripping your hair out and feeling like you're at your wits end, don't despair! I have 5 great tips and tricks that should make your stubborn little men racing to their potty in no time.
Potty training can be a chore for little boys as well as their weary, exhausted parents. Keep your head up, and keep trying! Offer kind words of encouragement, and remember, potty training is a journey and doesn't happen overnight. (Usually.) Patience is key. Most of all, enjoy these moments. Our little boys grow so fast, so remember to relish in these little milestones and enjoy them! How did YOU successfully potty train your sons? I'd love to hear some more tips and tricks!
