Hard cider fans, look no further than The Fields Neighborhood Park in Northwest Portland's Pearl District for the annual Cider Summit, now underway. The summit, which runs through Saturday, features about 200 varieties of hard cider, and includes some brewed especially for the Fruit Cider Challenge, a competition judged by summit attendees.
The event features several regionally produced ciders along with national and international offerings.
"It's our first time out here," said Kristine Boyer of Lake Oswego, who was sampling cider with her husband, Christopher.
"Being gluten-free, it provides a wonderful opportunity," Christopher said.
