New peso bills signed by President Duterte out next week

The central bank on Wednesday said it will release peso bills with the signature of President Rodrigo R. Duterte for the first time starting next week.

"The currency notes with the signature of the President: the notes are ready and the first batch is expected to be released next week," Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. told reporters in an interview at the Manila Hotel.

Duterte is 16th President of the Philippines. He took his oath of office on June 30.

"After completing approval and release procedures, next week meron na. It will be released to the banks," Tetangco said. — VS, GMA News
