2012 Mercedes Benz A-Class New Photos Released

Mercedes has already revealed everything it could about the new A-Class at the Geneva Motor Show more than a month ago. But this car isn’t so easily explained in a single release, so the Germans unleashed a whole slew of new photos that to us have a single aim: showing what compact luxury hatches are supposed to be like.

This five door does indeed have more luxury than a cruise liner, but most of it is optional and given our experience with other Mercs recently, we can tell you the price of the base can almost double if you click a few big options boxes.

“The new A-Class impresses thanks to its uniquely high quality standards for the compact segment, achieved through the design idiom, the selection of top-quality materials and the options for combining them. Attractive visual highlights include, for example, the air nozzles, which call to mind the form of jet engines and underscore the high quality of the interior,” Mercedes says about what it call the luxury car for a new generation.

"Translating the new dynamic style of Mercedes-Benz into the compact class was a challenge that was great fun to tackle", explains Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Mercedes-Benz.

"No other car in this segment is as progressive as the A-Class. Absolutely typical for Mercedes is the sculptural shape of the A-Class. The character lines, in particular on its sides, lend the A-Class structure and terseness. The new dynamic style is perceptible at first glance in the interior as well.”
