STEPHENVILLE -
Chase Rathke earned his second LSC Men's Track Athlete of the Week honor after his efforts at the Red Raider Open last Friday.
Â
"This is a very well-deserved honor for Chase," said Tarleton head coach
Pat Ponder.
Â
Rathke, who finished last season as an All-American in the indoor 800m, ran faster than he ever had before at the Red Raider Open.
Â
The Crawford native ran a meet best 1:51.09 (converted to 1:50.77 for altitude and oversized track), which is currently No. 9 in the nation and broke his own school record of 1:53.17 that was set in a third place finish at the 2014 NCAA indoor championships last spring in Winston-Salem, NC.
Â
Rathke also ran the third leg on a 4x400m relay that went the distance in 3:20.67 splitting 49.81.
Â
Rathke and the Tarleton track and field teams will head to Lubbock this weekend for the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Texas Tech.
