Queen celebrates her 91st birthday bash with four-course meal at Downton Abbey
THE Queen celebrated her 91st birthday with a four-course meal at Downton Abbey.
Her Majesty wanted a low-key do after last year’s 90th extravaganza and Highclere Castle, the setting for the hit ITV series, was chosen.
She was joined by Prince Philip, Princess Anne and her husband, Prince Edward and Sophie, Prince Andrew and friends.
The dinner came after she spent the day at Newbury Racecourse with Anne.
A royal insider said: “The Queen was thrilled, especially with the setting.
“She couldn’t have wished for a better birthday.
“After all the celebrations for her 90th last year she just wanted a simple day and nothing makes her more content than watching horses.”

The celebration on Friday was organised by John Warren, Her Majesty’s racing and bloodstock adviser.
He runs Highclere in Hampshire and is the son-in-law of the late Lord “Porchie” Porchester, the seventh Earl of Carnarvon who was a close friend of the Queen. She began the day at the castle, where she joined Mr Warren to see horses put through their paces before travelling to Newbury five miles away.
The rest of the family joined her at Highclere in the evening.
They sat down to dinner in Milford Lake, Mr Warren’s home on the estate next to the Castle.
Prince tried to save debt dad
PRINCE William battled to save a dad-of-three who took his own life.
The man was found at his Hertfordshire home by bailiffs who called over unpaid loans of £200,000.
Air ambulance pilot Wills flew him to hospital but he died on April 5.
Last week the prince said he’d seen “lots of sad situations” at work. A pal of the man said: “One of his kids aims to write to William because of his mental health work.”
Home he;p for Wills and Kate
THE Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have hired a second housekeeper to keep their home “ticking over” while they are in London.
William, 34, and Kate, 35, have taken on Emma Boyce, 35, who once worked for Prince Andrew and his wife Fergie, both 57.
She will help run Anmer Hall in Norfolk as William prepares to become a full-time royal based at Kensington Palace, a source said.
