Fire at unit complex – Coolangatta

Police are investigating a fire at a unit complex at Coolangatta in the early hours of this morning.

Around 2.45am occupants of the Coolangatta Road units were awoken by the sounds of a fire and the smell of smoke coming from the garages beneath the complex.

The occupants investigated and saw four of the five garages were on fire.

Emergency services extinguished the fire which was contained to the garage area.

Four of the five garages were extensively damaged along with a vehicle.

No one was injured as a result of the fire.

Investigations are continuing.
