Armed robbery, Annerley

Police have charged a man following investigation into an alleged armed robbery at an Ipswich Road shop this afternoon.

Police will allege the 37-year-old man entered the Annerley store shortly before 1.30pm and demanded cash from the shop assistant threatening him with a syringe before fleeing on foot with a quantity of cash.

The shop assistant was not injured during the alleged robbery.

Police investigations led them to a Venner Road, Annerley address.  Police searched a room in that house allegedly locating clothing, cash and a syringe.

A 37-year-old Annerley man was charged with one count each of armed robbery and enter premises with intent.  He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 23.
