The Berkshire Festival of Women Writers nourishes and strengthens the voices and visions of women of all ages and from many walks of life through workshops, readings, performances and screenings during the annual Festival and year-round events in Berkshire County MA and the adjacent Berkshire region.
The Festival offers year-round programming for women writers, including the monthly Lean In with the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers, a free drop-in writer’s circle; readings, classes, workshops, retreats and networking events for women writers; and special programming using writing to develop leadership in girls and young women.
Founded in 2011 by Dr. Jennifer Browdy,Ph.D., a professor of Comparative Literature, Gender Studies & Media Studies at Bard College at Simon's Rock, the Festival also offers writing-intensive leadership programs for teen girls and young women, inspiring them to step into their potential as creative leaders on the issues they care about, through writing and public speaking practice designed to build confidence, clarity and community. The Festival is a non-proft organization under the interim fiscal sponsorship of the Sandisfield Arts Center.
