A pregnant woman was shot and killed during a drive-by shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway early Wednesday morning.

Jasmine Curry, 25, was shot in the head as she drove her mini-van in the outbound local lanes of the Ryan near 59th street at about 4 a.m.

Illinois State Police say two other people were inside the van at the time of the shooting.  One passenger fled the scene before police arrived.  The other person in the van was not injured.

Police are not sure if the shots were fired by a passing car or from inside the van.

Curry’s family says she had five young children and was five months pregnant.  Her younger brother, Pierce Curry, 17, was also shot and killed last August.

State Police shut down the local outbound lanes of the Ryan from 47th to 59th Streets to investigate the shooting.  Those lanes remained closed through out the morning rush but were opened by the early afternoon.
