8/26/2014 1:04:00 PM

PRINCETON, N.J. - The IUPUI basketball team had its 2014-15 schedule finalized on Tuesday (Aug. 26) afternoon with the remainder of the Gotham Classic schedule revealed. The Jaguars will play three road games and a home game as part of the seven-team event, which culminates with a Dec. 20 doubleheader between NC State and West Virginia and Pepperdine and Richmond inside New York City's Madison Square Garden on Dec. 20.

IUPUI will open play on Dec. 15 at Howard before hosting South Alabama on Dec. 20 at the newly renovated Fairgrounds Coliseum. The Jaguars will then play on Dec. 23 at Richmond and Dec. 27 at Pepperdine.

"These four games are definitely going to test us," IUPUI Head Coach Jason Gardner said. "We're playing four pretty good opponents and three of them are on the road, which will be tough environments. It'll be good to face some adversity before the conference season begins though."

Howard is led by reigning MEAC Rookie of the Year James Daniel (21.0 ppg) and returns four of five starters from a season ago. The Bison will also benefit from College of Charleston-transfer JC Carlton joining the mix. South Alabama, coached by former Butler standout Matthew Graves, return a pair of starters, including Ken Williams (9.1 ppg) and Barrington Stevens (7.2 ppg). The Jaguars won 11 games a season ago for Graves in his first year on the job. Richmond went 19-14 last season for Head Coach Chris Mooney and are led by All-Atlantic 10 pick Kendall Anthony (15.9 ppg). Pepperdine won 15 games last season and return their top scorer and rebounder in Stacy Davis (15.1 ppg, 7.6 rpg).

Gardner's squad looks to be led by senior guard Khufu Najee (9.9 ppg) and junior Marcellus Barksdale (8.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 3.7 apg). Other key returners include sophomore forward Elijah Ray (5.1 ppg), Justus Stanback (3.3 ppg) and Josh James (2.0 ppg). The group of newcomers includes Detroit-transfer P.J. Boutte and talented freshmen Aaron Brennan and D.J. McCall.
